Citizen Kane (1941)

The Battle for Citizen Kane (1941)- The most positive comments received from critics during its making, & though it failed to capture the Box-Office or the Best- Pic, Dir, or Actor award at the Oscars beaten by another splendid pic directed by John Ford "How green was my Valley" deprived Orson Welles at the Oscar Awards, yet it's regarded as a tech correct piece of Art. The Film was based on the newspaper tycoon & politician William Randolph Hearst who tried to avert this Movie's release in a big way, some excerpts from this unsavory incident & the persons mobilized for it shown in the video. It was adapted for screen by Welles & co-writer Herman J.Mankiewicz,& said to have taken some parts of all the Rich persons of that era, like Harry McCormick & Howard Hughes. Though RKO & Welles fought the attempt by Hearst to stop the release of the movie unsuccessfully but Hearst & his Hollywood friends succeeded in  getting theater chains to limit bookings for "Citizen Kane" resulting in mediocre Box-Office numbers & harming Welles career. Though a dark portrayal of Hearst, the film was named #1 twice in 1998 & 2007 by AFI in the 100 greatest film of all times.
