  • The oldest actress to win an Oscar for Best Actress is Jessica Tandy for her role in Driving Miss Daisy 1989 aged 80 yrs & 292 days, on the day of her win.
  • Kate Winslett holds the record for being the youngest performer to receive 5 **AAN.
  • The only Director to win the *AA for Best-Dir in his debut film is John Huston for 'The Treasure of the Sierra Madre'  in 1948. His father Walter Huston won the best-supporting actor category for his role in the same movie.
  • Emma Thompson is the only actress to win AA's for both Best Actress 'Howards End'(92) & for Best Screenplay for 'Sense & Sensibility' (95).
  • The great George Bernard Shaw is the only person to have won both the  AA  for Pygmalion's best adapted screenplay in 1938 & had earlier won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1925.
